To The Editor:

I would like the people of Salem in surrounding communities to know of the hidden gem we have in Salem. At least it was hidden from me, as it does not get the accolades it deserves, and that is Salemhaven Rehabilitation on Geremonty Drive.

My mother Edna, recently was sent to Salemhaven Rehab to recoup from a bout of pneumonia and also for respite care while the family was on vacation. The staff at rehab was wonderful. The home–like atmosphere, a staff that cares and treats the clients/patients with dignity helped to make her stay a welcoming one, as well as a relief for family knowing our mom was happy.

The rooms are cheerful, patients are happy and visitors are welcomed with smiles from all who are employed as well as volunteers. The therapists did wonders and my mom returned home happy, healthy and in better condition than before her pneumonia.

Also on the grounds is Silverthorne Adult Day Center. If you haven't had a chance to visit this facility, do so. Paula the director, has a program that is outstanding for all who need/want to socialize with other adults and are not able to be fully active as at the Salem Senior Center.

My family’s thanks go out to Salemhaven Rehab and Silverthorne for being such a blessing in the Salem community.
