We Are Compelled to...

write to you regarding our family's experience at Salem haven. Our mother and our father were patients at Salemhaven off and on during the time period of  2007 - 2010. They were cared for in the Special Care Unit on the second floor.

My family wants to commend Salem haven for its outstanding patient care - including the wonderful nurses and aids (way too many to name), the nursing manager, the social worker, the admissions director, the environmental services group, the receptionists and the chef! In fact, the entire team at Salemhaven!

Our experience(s) at Salemhaven with both of our parents was truly amazing! The nurses and aids on the rehab floor were the most caring and attentive we have ever experienced, anywhere! They cared for our father most recently (Oct - Nov) until his death. His passing was peaceful and his condition was extremely well managed all the way until the end. He fell in love with his caregivers, as did we! Because of their dedication, loving and caring ways, his last few weeks were beautiful.

The staff on the Rehab/Special Care Unit cared also for our family members and always, always asked us how we were doing and what they could do to help us. They were there with hugs and understanding and professional medical care which allowed us to enjoy our last few weeks with our father. They were respectful and unbelievably attentive - never complaining and never saying "wait" or "no, no now", even in times when my father was high maintenance.

We had the help of a hospice group to supplement the care but they did not hold a candle to your staff! Your staff is incredible and it is our hope that you share this letter along with your congratulations and appreciation for their very caring and truly amazing service to our parents. Our father was a very special man who deserved the best care and we believe that he received it at Salemhaven!

Please do not hesitate to use our family as references or share this letter with anyone considering Salemhaven. We highly, highly recommend your fine nursing center - especially the Reha/Special Care Unit.
