We offer our residents comfortable semi-private and private residential rooms which are beautifully decorated in a traditional design. A spacious dining area, beauty salon, activity rooms, family meeting rooms and chapel all contribute to the quality of life for our residents. Our warm, friendly atmosphere and caring staff of professionals and volunteers help to make our visitors and residents feel at home.
Working Together...
From the very start, your care and comfort become our main objectives. We'll work with you and/or your family members to help attain a maximum degree of independence as a resident of Salemhaven. We begin with consulting your doctors and other health care professionals before your arrival to make sure our home fits your needs. Then we design a plan of care - with your assistance - to reach your goals, whatever they may be. Together, we plan your meals recognizing special dietary needs, whether medical or otherwise. We see to it that fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables are used in preparing a variety of appealing menus that change with the seasons and holidays, just as you would in your own home.
Recreational Social and Spiritual
Recreational services include on and off-site programming such as wii games, craft workshops, art classes, baking, cooking, sewing, bowling, exercise and a variety of games. Intergenerational Activities, Field Trips, Cultural Events, Live Entertainments, Holiday Parties, Themed Socials, Musical Concerts, Community Luncheons, Pet Visits and Shopping add to the social life with family and friends. Activities are offered weekdays, weekends and evenings.
Our staff and residents also participate in scheduled community events involvement and engage with onsite volunteers.
Our Social Services
Salemhaven Social Services support the psychological and social well being of each resident within the facility. These services include:
• Psychosocial support to the residents as well as to their family members.
• Educate the resident, family and friends about the residents’ rights.
• Participate with a multi-disciplinary team to develop a comprehensive plan of care for each resident.
• Support the resident’s family in coping with the physical illness and/or disability of the resident and the grieving process.
• Work with residents and family members and other disciplines to have a safe plan of discharge to home or another level of care.
• Provide community resource information regarding discharge planning.
Spiritual Care
Salemhaven has an active Pastoral Care Department. Our Chaplain directs this department and is always willing to assist residents and families in their spiritual needs and often spends time communicating one-on-one with residents throughout the facility. Non-denominational Worship is provided in the Chapel weekly. This service is open to residents, families, and friends. A weekly hymn sing consisting of Hymns and Gospel songs are provided live each week on the 3rd floor as well as at other times throughout each month. This department also has people who volunteer spiritual care services in Bible and inspirational readings, Christian music, prayer, and sharing, while others volunteer their services to help in our Chapel Choir or assist in transportation to and from the Worship. Every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., a Roman Catholic Mass is available to residents and families. This is conducted by leaders from our two Catholic Churches in Salem. If you have spiritual concerns, questions or need information, our Chaplain is available to assist you.
