Dear Mr. Milliard,

I am writing this letter because you and your employees have made such a difference in our lives. It is never easy when you come to the realization that you can no longer care for a member of your family that you love so much. My mother was my best friend and my family's rock. It felt like such a brief period of time between being her independent self to being unable to be left alone. Like most families, we are working, raising children, helping with grandchildren and racing through busy days.

I will never forget the day we decided as a family my mom needed more care than we could give her. At the time, I felt it was a very sad day. Looking back, that is a distant memory. She arrived at Salemhaven and began to come alive again. It was almost as if she had another purpose in her life to celebrate. My mom had never been the same since my dad passed three years ago. Her energy level was so down the day she arrived. In less than a week I had seen a side of my mother that I hadn't seen in years. Immediately she made new friends and had a social calendar larger than mine! My family and I actually needed to plan our visits around her activities and field trips. Her happiness allowed us to feel at peace with our decision and then some.

I don't know where to begin with all of my thank you’s!  To all of the Nurses Aides, thank you for making my mother feel so special and loved. She spoke personally and so highly of all of you. As so the nursing staff, you showed so much understanding and patience with my mom and all of us. The Activities Staff, our thanks for my mom's energy and excitement. She looked so forward to her bingo games, the wonderful musicians and to just paint a birdhouse to bring out her creative side. We would like to make mention the Business Office, Housekeeping, the Dietary Department and basically all of the staff, all of you made our experience one that we will never forget.

It has been a couple months since mom has passed. I think my fondest memory of Salemhaven is how comforting and loving you all were in the end. I could tell by the emotions, so many of you loved her very much. You will all be forever in our hearts. Please continue to be such wonderful beacons of light in so many lives.

Fondly,

The Caraccio Family
