I'm Thankful for Salemhaven

To me, Thanksgiving season is a time to reflect and be grateful for everything we have been given. Not only in our personal life, but for what is available to us where we live!

I am referring to Salemhaven Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center located in Salem at 23 Geremonty Dr.  Placing a relative in a nursing home can be difficult. Not so at Salemhaven. It's here where the process is less trying for the entire family.

You may wonder why I am writing about this fine facility. In case you didn't know, I underwent major surgery in August at Parkland medical center in Derry, another fine facility. It was there that my doctor saved my life from a bleeding ulcer. Following recuperation, I was told I would have to go to a rehabilitation center. Salemhaven was my choice, and I'm ever so grateful to Raymond Milliard, Administrator, for making this possible.

If any of you are ever faced with having to enter a nursing home or rehab center, you will be pleased with Salemhaven. It was necessary for me to learn to walk again. Trust me when I say that the rehab staff is excellent. I am so grateful to be walking on my own.

Your stay at Salemhaven will be in not boring. Each day a variety of entertainment is planned for your enjoyment. You can attend or not. The choice is yours. A Chapel is available for church services. There is also a wonderful dining area for residents.

For a nominal fee, residents may have one or two guests at meals. Let me assure you that the meals are good and plentiful. Laundry and labeling of clothing is free.

Perhaps you are wondering why I am telling you all about Salemhaven. There comes a time when a member of the family must leave his or her surroundings. I just want you to know that in Salem we are fortunate to have a facility with caring employees who make you feel at home.

I hope that everyone looked back is Thanksgiving at everything we have to be grateful for and remember those in your life who made a difference.

It was Helen Steiner Rice who said, "Help us to remember that the key to life and living is to make each prayer a prayer of thanks, and every day Thanksgiving."
